Product Description

Performance

The INOXPA RV Helicoidal Impeller Pump is a centrifugal pump specifically designed for transferring liquids containing a high proportion of suspended solids or medium viscosity products that are unsuitable for conventional centrifugal pumps.

Its helicoidal impeller generates a smooth, progressive flow path that allows solids to pass through the pump with minimal mechanical stress. This design significantly reduces the risk of clogging and product damage, even when handling solids concentrations of up to 60 percent.

The RV pump delivers high efficiency, typically exceeding 70 percent, while maintaining low power consumption. Maximum flow rates reach up to 180 m³/h, making it suitable for high throughput process applications.

Applications

The RV helicoidal impeller pump is widely used in industries where gentle handling of solids is essential.

Typical applications include fruit and vegetable processing, wineries, food preparation lines and processes involving suspended organic matter. In winemaking, the RV pump is particularly valued for pump-over operations during vinification, where preserving grape skins and seeds improves colour extraction and reduces lees formation.

It is also suitable for transferring whole fruits, olives, mushrooms, citrus segments, vegetables, fish and similar delicate products.

Specific Fluids

The RV pump is suitable for liquids containing large solid particles and soft solids, including fruit pieces, vegetable matter, grape skins, seeds, olives and organic slurries. It can also handle liquids of medium viscosity where a standard centrifugal pump would cause blockages or excessive shear.

Maximum allowable particle size is up to 75 mm, depending on configuration.

Operating Principle

The RV pump operates using a helicoidal impeller that guides the product smoothly through the pump casing. The impeller geometry creates a continuous flow path, allowing solid particles to pass without impact or compression.

This gentle pumping action minimises damage to suspended solids while maintaining stable hydraulic performance. Flow optimisation within the casing further reduces turbulence and obstruction risk.

Construction

The RV pump features a close-coupled centrifugal design with an integrated volute casing and helicoidal impeller. All product wetted components are manufactured from AISI 316L stainless steel to ensure corrosion resistance and hygienic operation.

The lantern is also manufactured from AISI 316L, with other stainless steel components produced from AISI 304. Internal surfaces are bright polished, while external surfaces have a matte finish suitable for industrial environments.

The pump is fitted with a hygienic mechanical seal in accordance with EN 12756 (DIN 24960 L1K).

Sealing and Hygiene

The RV pump is supplied with a silicon carbide to silicon carbide mechanical seal with EPDM elastomers. This seal arrangement offers excellent durability and resistance to wear in solids-handling applications.

The hygienic design and polished internal surfaces support CIP and SIP cleaning procedures within the specified temperature limits.

Configuration Options

The RV helicoidal impeller pump can be supplied with a wide range of connection types, including DIN 11851, Clamp, SMS, RJT, DIN flanges and other industry standards.

Additional options include stainless steel trolleys, CE control panels, remote control operation, motor shrouds, adjustable feet and variable speed operation via frequency converter.
